Elliot and Wade had dated in the past but let her parents influence her to break up with him. Over the course of 7 years she writes him a series of letters.
Elliot basically spends her whole life doing what everyone else wants her to do. She’s pretty much a doormat and makes excuses for the way some people treat her in the book.
Wade had held resentment in his heart for Elliot after she left him. Wade comes back home to be with his sick father. He tried to stay away from Elliot but he can’t.
These two killed me!! They clearly wanted to be with each other but yet they wouldn’t make that first move. I was also a little disappointed about the lack of angst between the characters. After seven years apart I was expecting more passion and drama. They were both stubborn and I was like give me something to work with here.
Elliot, I really couldn’t relate to her character because she was weak and such a doormat. She let her sister and father do and say whatever they wanted when it came to her. When she finally stood up for herself I was in shock!
Wade, I liked him but he did something in the book that annoyed me. I was a little turned off after this happened but I get why he did what he did.
Certain parts in this book had my heart in my throat. The scenes with Wade’s’ father were so touching. I found those the hardest part to read in the book. We also had a shocking revelation that I didn’t see coming and I felt so badly for all parties involved. Like the old saying goes “who needs enemies when you have family”. Elliot clearly got the short end of the stick in this department.
Overall I did enjoy the story and will definitely check out more works from this author.

Author Bio
Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, even though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.
From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s sleeping, cleaning, or designing graphics.
