SYNOPSIS:

Readers asked for it, and JC Valentine has delivered!Life has thrown me a few curveballs…
But nothing as sexy or devastating as Alejandro.
I never thought I’d see him again, but fate has seen fit to give us another chance.
Maybe this time we’ll get it right. Maybe this time he’ll stay.
Or perhaps my heart is about to be irrevocably shattered.
One way or another, our lives are about to change.
Only time will tell if it’s for better or worse, but one thing is certain…
Alejandro is a force to be reckoned with…maybe even best to be avoided.
But when it comes to matters of the heart, sometimes there’s no reasoning.
Sometimes…it’s pure instinct.

Taking a chance on him is like playing Russian roulette—it’s dangerous…foolish…and likely to kill me.
But what’s life without a little risk?

Mami by JC Valentine
This story starts right where Papi ended and we have the continuation of Julie and Alejandro’s romance.  Despite the difficulties they confront, they continue their relationship defying all obstacles and making it work as best they can.
I loved how she gives herself completely into the relationship and her feelings for Alejandro, but I definitely had issues with their time apart and his silences in between their time together.  I felt she might have been too trusting with him, but, on the other hand, it’s a fictionalization of true events and I think some things might have been kept private which is completely understandable.
As with the previous installment, the story is very real and raw.  IMO, the author manages to make you feel everything Julie goes through as if it was you in her shoes.  The love, hope and despair are all there for us to experience and Ms. Valentine really lays it out for the reader to feel them.
I read these novellas back to back and couldn’t put them down until the very end of the story.

Papi by JC Valentine
Julie is working mother of 3 children, recently separated from her husband of 17 years.  While contemplating dating again, she goes on a dating site and it’s there where she meets Alejandro.  They message back and forth, there’s an immediate connection and they eventually meet.
Papi is a short story that a lot of women should be able to relate to.  I know I did.  No matter how successful, beautiful and confident you are, when you go through a separation, especially from a cheating partner, you tend to doubt yourself and believe whatever went wrong is somehow your fault and, even if you don’t, it’s hard for us to go back out in the dating world and expose ourselves to disappointment again.
Further to the serious aspects of this novella, we also have the ultra-hot scenes with the very sexy Alejandro who seems to be Julie’s soulmate and fits the description of the man she wanted for herself once upon a time.
This story is based on true events and I have to say I found it honest, heartfelt and compelling.  I had never read anything by Ms. Valentine before and I was impressed with the quality of her writing and the easy flow of the story.
