Homicide and Halo-Halo (A Tita Rosie's Kitchen Mystery Book 2) by [Mia P. Manansala]

Thank you Berkley Pub for my gifted copy.

My 💭:
This book was a little heavier in the beginning as Lila was suffering from PTSD and also questioning her life choices. Lila was also dealing with unresolved grief as well. During the story Lila does a lot of self reflection and I love the support she has from her friends. They had no problem calling her out when needed. We all need friends like that in our lives!
As far as the mystery goes it was pretty easy to figure out. The recipes had my mouth watering as usual. I also felt the author did a good job providing us with a good enough backstory from the first book, that didn’t overshadow this story.

Content Warnings from authors note: PTSD, fatphobia, fertility/pregnancy issues, predatory behavior, unresolved grief, parental death (occurred in childhood), and dismissive attitudes toward mental health.

Quick Take:
Death at a beauty pageant turns Tita Rosie’s Kitchen upside down in the latest entry of this witty and humorous cozy mystery series by Mia P. Manansala.
