Review Tour: The Social Affair by Britney King
A timeless, perfect couple waltzes into the small coffee shop where Izzy Lewis works. Instantly enamored, she does what she always does in situations like these: she searches them out on social media.
Just like that—with the tap of a screen— she’s given a front row seat to the Dunns’ picturesque life. This time, she’s certain she’s found what she’s been searching for. This time, she’ll go to whatever lengths it takes to ensure she gets it right—even if this means doing the unthinkable.
Intense and original, The Social Affair is a disturbing psychological thriller that explores what can happen when privacy is traded for convenience.
Izzy is a troubled woman working a menial job and it’s at that job she meets Grant and Josie Dunn. She’s immediately besotted by the beautiful woman and her loving husband and, wanting to escape her lonely life, will try to find everything there is to know about them via social media.
In the meantime, the Dunns’ lives are not at all what they appear, and Izzy will find herself way in over her head.
This was my first read by the author and I have to say it came as a surprise. At first, I was confused and started making all kind of conjectures about where the book was headed, but the unraveling and final outcome were worth every minute I spent reading.
Ms. King certainly knows how to keep the interest, not giving too much away at any point in time. Her writing is good and never boring, she just messes up with your mind until she smacks you over the head with the least expected outcome.
The Social Affair is a perfect example why you should never wish the lives of others because one doesn’t know what happens behind closed doors…

This book is the pure definition that the grass is not always greener on the other side. I thought I had this book all figured out while I was reading and I was so wrong. Izzy wasn’t as smart as I thought she was. Josie was smarter than I anticipated and Grant was plain evil. This book had me on the edge of seat while I read. The last few chapters of the book had my jaw dropping. It truly did!
Britney King really brought her “A” game with this book. It was well written, evenly paced and held my attention from start to finish. It was a much needed refreshing read as the last few books for me have been hit or miss. This book was also very relevant to the times especially when it comes to social media. This story is why I keep my social media accounts on private. Well done Britney King!
