Nico, fills in as Quarterback after an injury. He isn’t met without prejudice since he is Mexican and is at Cornwall, a private school on a scholarship. When Reagan and Nico start a relationship, they face some criticism. She is a white girl and he is a barrio boy. I loved how this book touched on the issues we have in society. People are so quick to judge and make comments. Just because someone is from a bad neighborhood doesn’t make them a bad person. Just because a person comes from a good neighbor doesn’t make them a good person or better. This book touched on the politics of a private school. What they thought of the “scholarship” kids.
Reagan and Nico’s relationship didn’t start out like your typical relationship. They went from not liking each other, to being friends and having a nice relationship and falling in love.
The book showed how different people from different backgrounds can all come together and be one! Acceptance and tolerance is key and something we as people can work on! I LOVED the football aspect of the story and all the work that goes into the game. This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed it very much and the message was a good one!! Don’t let your circumstances define you. Break the mold. Reach for the stars and defy the odds!! You don’t have to be a product of your environment. Thank you for writing a book that sheds light on the ignorance that can take place. One thing I want to know??!! Who House??
