Book Review+Interview: Crew by Tijan
My Review:
Crew is centered around 4 people and they aren’t a gang but they have each other’s back at all times. In this book we are introduced to Bren and she is a very complex person. There are many layers to Bren, cold, closed off, bad ass, volatile but there is a vulnerable, sad and scared side to her as well.
Throughout the story we get glimpses and pieces as to why Bren is the way she is and it really breaks your heart. Bren was a very interesting character to read about and some of the stuff she did in the book had me stunned. She was a legit badass at times and I loved it! Bren also did some growing in this book and that warmed my heart as well.
Cross is also apart of the crew and I liked his character a lot. He was very protective of Bren. He was silent but lethal and always had Bren’s back and was there for her and could reach her in ways no body else could at times.
This book was addictive from start to finish. I’ve read a few books by Tijan and this one is a little darker than her others but it was good. It’s a best friends to lover romance and those are some of my favorite reads. It was a delicious slow burn between the two characters and I loved seeing their relationship played out. I’m really excited to see where this series is headed. The story has a refreshing plot, the secondary characters are awesome and compliment the main characters. This book was well written and I can’t wait for the next story!
Exclusive Interview:
1) If you could be any of your book characters who would you be and why?
Shay from Evil? I think her powers aren’t even fully realized yet and I’m hoping she’s got it in her to fly. I’d loooove that!
2) Hardest book to write?
Maybe Sustain? I rewrote that book 3 times and I was kinda locked in to keep it around the same timeline as Broken and Screwed 2. I loved the end product, but it was hard too. I feel like it needed to be flushed out more, but at the time I didn’t have the writing ability to do that.
3) Describe your writing process?
I write. I don’t know. I just start going and I keep going until it’s done or mostly done. I try not to force things anymore. I need headphones, music, and coffee!
4) How do you spend your time when you aren’t writing?
Movies. Cuddles with my pup. Spending time with friends and family!
5) What advice would you offer new writers?
Focus on your story first and foremost. Just to really push to become the best writer you can be, then think about everything else afterwards. Write the book first. And don’t write with the expectation to make money. You’ll get frustrated if that’s your goal.
6) Which book of yours would you like to see turned into a movie?
ANY OF THEM!!!! Oh my god. That’s a dream come true if ANY of them turned into a move, but to be honest–I don’t think that’ll happen and I’m okay with that too!
7) Favorite Food?
Caesar salads!
8) Favorite Color?
I’m all over the board. Teal. Silver. Black. Pink. Lots!
9)Favorite Movie?
Elf!
10) Favorite Moment?
I’m lame! I don’t have one!
