Book Review+Interview: Cooper Bennett and the Devil’s Ire by Golden Czermak
Review:
I’ve been not so patiently wait for this book and it was really good. Czermak has such a way with words and a very vivid description to detail. Reading this story felt like a movie was playing out before my very eyes. I loved seeing the maturation of the characters. The secondary story was well written and I loved how it all came together with the main plot. Seeing glimpses of The Journeymen always makes my day. Plus, my favorite demon, Dajjal makes an appearance as well. I must say the last few chapters had me at the edge of my seat and I was so ready to throw my kindle when I finished! I need the next book ASAP!!!! Czermak’s writing and storytelling keeps on getting better and he is my new King of Paranormal. Hands. Down.
Interview:
1) If you could be any of your book characters who would you be and why?
I think that I would love to be Cooper, minus the hard aspects of his early life. I’m not sure why, but I think the freedom of life he experiences and the fact that he can do so with such amazing friends and new family members is something that any one of us can aspire to, dream for, and try to achieve. That’s why… Cooper helps me push forward to be a better me.
2) Hardest book to write?
The hardest would be The Steam Tycoon, mainly because it is SUCH a different world that includes elements of the wild west, the Victorian era, post-apocalyptic wastelands all set upon a steampunk stage. It’s the only book that I have footnotes in, but I do love that concept and may incorporate it into other books as kind of a “narrative voice” to help define things or describe things that we can’t find in our own world.
3) Describe your writing process?
I outline. Everything. LOL. So typically I will pull together a general story arc, divide it into chapters (since I write visually these are more like scenes in a movie), then fill it as I go. Sometimes things take a different direction depending on how the characters respond to situations and things, but generally my outlines have required checkpoints to keep the plot moving ahead.
4) How do you spend your time when you aren’t writing?
Shooting photos of hot men… with little clothes on.
5) What advice would you offer new writers?
Persevere. Get your words onto paper first before worrying about other elements of the process including editing, photos, covers, etc. Get the words out or the story idea formed, then worry about the rest. Too often we also get discouraged – Heaven knows I have – when we see
6) Which book of yours would you like to see turned into a movie?
The Secret Life of Cooper Bennett hands down. Journeyman series next.
7) Favorite Food?
US: chicken wings – spicy ones! Foreign: bulgogi, bibimbap, and dukbokki (all Korean)
8) Favorite Color?
Red 😉
9)Favorite Movie?
Lord of the Rings trilogy will always have a place at the top. Haha.
10) Favorite Moment?
My mother had been bedridden due to her cancer in its later stages (once i had come back after a successful first round of treatment). However, despite that she was able to and wanted to go around Seoul with me shopping. So, my favorite moment in life was being able to spend that time her in her final weeks. I don’t know where she got the strength from to walk THAT far and for ALL day, but being there with her was something I will never forget. I met her friends that day too and they all sung a little song on the way home – and I was able to see her smile then for the last time.
