Book Review: This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron
Thank you Bloomsbury YA for my advance review copy.
My thoughts:
After reading and loving Cinderella Is Dead last year I couldn’t wait to read this book. I loved the premise of the story, but at times I felt pacing was slow. I also didn’t understand how Briseis and her two mothers could be so trusting while in a new place. They are from Brooklyn after all and should know better.
As the story progressed I pretty much figured out the plot, but there was a scene at the end that I didn’t expect and I do look forward to seeing how this plays out in the next book. Sophomore novels are tricky, but overall I did enjoy this story!
About the Book:
Darkness blooms in bestselling author Kalynn Bayron’s new contemporary fantasy about a girl with a unique and deadly power.
Briseis has a gift: she can grow plants from tiny seeds to rich blooms with a single touch.
