Blog Tour+Review: The Forbidden by Jodi Ellen Malpas
THE FORBIDDEN by Jodi Ellen Malpas (August 8, 2017; Forever trade paperback original; $15.99)
A new story of dangerous temptations from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the This Man trilogy. Annie has never experienced the ‘spark’ with a guy – the kind of instant chemistry that steals your breath and blindsides you completely. Until a night out with friends brings her face to face with the wickedly sexy and mysterious Jack. It’s not just a spark that ignites between them. It’s an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise.
Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who’s had such a powerful impact on her and who could bend her to his will so easily, must be dangerous. But she’s already in too deep. And Jack isn’t only dangerous. He is forbidden.
I honestly don’t even know if my review can do this book justice but here goes….
As an avid reader I enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone. I knew going in it would be a taboo subject and I was ok with it. But I wasn’t expecting this book to CONSUME me the way it did after just a few short chapters. This was such a well written story that just completely got me off guard. I couldn’t eat or sleep until I finished this book. This book was so intense, raw, emotional and passionate. Jodi’s words sucked me into this book and I felt so many emotions right along with the characters. I know I’m rambling but I haven’t had such a reaction to a book like this in a LONG time!
“We will be together. But at what cost?”
Jack and Annie know what they are doing is wrong but they can’t help or fight their attraction to each other. But like the old saying goes, the heart wants what the heart wants! You could feel their connection and passion just oozing through the pages. One thing that I loved about this story was that it DIDN’T glorify the choices. It showed the ugly side, the damage, the hurt and the pain that it causes! The characters didn’t have it easy and faced real repercussions for their actions. There were no innocent parties in this book and all of them were to blame. This book was so real, raw and authentic! I applaud the author for writing a book like this despite it not being a popular subject. This is the third book that I’ve read by this author and she’s knocked it out of the park with her way with words. I highly recommend everyone to read this story and to step out of your comfort zones. Trust me this type of book will stay with you for a long time and force you to look deep inside yourself before you cast judgement on certain situations.

Beth’s Review:
Forbidden, to do something not allowed or banned. What would your heart say to do once you had a taste of what you should not do? But when two people are better together than not, do you push those boundaries?
New standalone from Jodi Ellen Malpas and she just nailed it again. So well written and she captures your interests with Jack and Annie. This story can go either way. Some readers will be for it and others will be against. I’m with the true love story.
I really enjoyed The Forbidden. Listen to your heart. And it will usually leads you to the right place. Annie goes out with her friends and meets a gorgeous man. The night was explosive. But when reality sets in, she runs from Jack. But you know when people say it’s a small world and that is so true. When Annie throws a housewarming party, her clients contractor is her one night stand, Jack. But Annie was in shock to say the least. Her world was rocked to the core. She was never that woman. But something was there with Jack. Her heart was full and complete with him.
Jack was unhappy and didn’t see his life every happy. But that changed when his eyes landed on Annie. He came alive and his life began. But he knew that he had to do change his current situation for his true love.
