When I first read the Endgame Series, I didn’t care much for Damon Scott until the last book, when I got a glimpse of something else.  Of course, that meant I HAD to read this book and O.M.G.
This is Penny’s story.  Her father is a compulsive gambler, her mother is long gone and Damon comes into her life briefly when she’s very young.  When he shows up again, he’s all grown up and her father owes him money, but has no way to pay except one last game; one with a big enough pot and the only thing to use as a buy in is her.
Damon and Penny are flawed and complex characters both abused, both paying for the sins of their parents.  They have more in common that it seems possible given their backgrounds and they are both manipulated by evil to do their bidding.  But Damon is hell bent on protecting Penny above all and he’s willing to sacrifice his soul to set her free.
There are secrets, things no one knows and Ms. Warren will take us on a dark trek to find them out.  The story is full of intense, twisted situations that are bound to keep you on edge up until the last page.
