From the New York Times bestselling author of the Dark Protectors series comes a sexy romantic suspense about a woman determined to solve her sister's murder and the only man she can trust with long-buried family secrets.

Revenge. It's the only thing that will help Anya Best sleep at night. The serial killer who murdered her sister is on the loose, and Anya will stop at nothing to put him behind bars---even use herself as bait to lure him out of hiding. But she can't do this alone.

Private investigator Heath Jones's job is to bring bastards to justice. This time it's personal. He knew the Copper Killer's latest victim so when her sister asks for his help, he's all in. But when Anya uses the media to taunt the killer, she exposes Heath's identity, putting them both in jeopardy. Now, secrets buried long ago are coming to light and the forces determined to destroy him are watching Heath's every move, waiting to exact their own revenge. And they'll use anything and anyone to get to Heath.

Review:

So this was my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed this book! The plot was different and refreshing and held my attention. This is the second book in the series and even though it’s a standalone, I think it would have been better if I read the first book. It would have been nice to have more of a backstory on the brothers.

Anya is looking for the person who killed her sister and meets Heath. Heath has a lot of issues from his mother. At times I didn’t like how Heath constantly compared Anya to his mother. Anya was tough in her own way which I liked even though she could be a little bit annoying at times. The whole mad scientist aspect for the story and building super soldiers was intriguing.  Dr. Madison was completely out of her mind and I loved her character so much.

This story was really suspenseful and the last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat. I liked Heath and Anya but I felt their relationship moved too fast for me and I didn’t feel their connection all the way. Nonetheless, I will be reading book 1 which I purchased and continuing with the rest of this series.
