Synopsis: New to the Big Apple, the last thing Lexie Bloom needs is to fall for two guys at once. Especially when she can’t have either. One is her personal trainer, an Adonis way out of her league. The other? A Brit Lit professor her svelte boss insists she woo for her—via text message, no less. Little does she know, the two are the same man…

Matthew Hennessey is intrigued by his shy new client at the gym. But before he gets the chance to ask her out, he discovers she’s the one crafting the flirty texts sent to him by a woman who wouldn’t know Lord Byron from Lady Gaga. To get to know her better, he allows Lexie to play her role. She may have given up on the idea of romance, but Matthew’s bound and determined to show her love is alive and well in New York City.

Lexie has moved to New York to pursue her dream to become a playwright and just started working as an assistant in a large company.  Matthew works at the company’s gym and is her assigned trainer.  There’s “insta-lust” from both sides, but Lexie has been cheated on before and came to the big city to work hard on her goals.  She is reluctant to trust any man despite her feelings.  Add to that the fact that her boss enlists her to work an angle and get her a date with a man she recently met and who has text her poetry quotes, which she admittedly knows little about.  Lexie finds herself getting to know the hunk from the gym and the romantic soul on the other side of the phone, but what will happen when she discovers they’re both the same guy?
Matthew and Lexie have major flaws.  They both have suffered big losses in their lives and trust is something difficult for them and as he weaves a web of deception in order to find out more about her, he’s risking a future together.
This book is a sweet, modern, lose take on the French classic Cyrano de Bergerac.  In this case the girl is playing Cyrano to get her boss a date with the guy, but he learns of the deception early in the game and uses it to his advantage to try to get the elusive Lexie.  It’s nicely written, quickly developed and, to top it all, loaded with beautiful, romantic quotes that bring a special quality to the story.  If you’re looking for a fast read that will leave a sugary taste and restore your faith in romantic love, pick this one up.
