I protect what’s mine.
The ranch, my family, our buried secrets.

Nothing will stop me from reassembling the life that went terribly wrong.
Not the law.
Not our enemies.
Not even Maybe Quinn.

The gorgeous, quarrelsome journalist shouldn’t have meddled.
I shouldn’t have let her stay.
But she’s hiding something in those deceptive blue eyes.
Something deeper than her thirst for a news story.

I make a deal with her to buy time.
To unravel her lies. To play with her. To satisfy my darker appetites.
When she buckles beneath my belt, I’ll send her away.
Unless I buckle first.

TRAILS OF SIN series (HEAs with no cliffhangers - must be read in order):
Knotted #1 - Jake and Conor
Buckled #2 - Jarret and Maybe
Booted #3 - Lorne and Raina

My Review:

I have been waiting not so patiently for this book and I’m so happy to report it was just as good as I hoped it would be!

Jarrett and Maybe from the very first pages have this combustible, love/hate, relationship and I enjoyed every single moment of this story. Maybe is at the ranch searching for some answers. Jarrett doesn’t trust her but they strike up an agreement anyway.  I enjoyed the way everything played out with the two characters. They are both broken, guarded and hardened. Maybe was so sassy and stubborn. Jarrett was your typical alpha male cowboy. Their relationship was very push/pull and I loved how it was a slow burn as well. I mean Jarrett developed feelings rather fast but it was done in a very believable way which I loved.

‘’Finally. F*cking finally, I have her. Wild and molten, wet and volatile, her fight is beautiful, but her surrender is goddamn exquisite. I consume it with everything inside me, feeding on it and fueling a desire that has never felt this out of control.’’

This book isn’t as heavy as the first book but it still packs a punch. I’m loving the characters in this story and the family they made themselves given the horrible set of circumstances.Godwin writes stories that suck you in and you can easily relate to while reading. The characters are flawed but you can’t help root for them and their happy ending. As much as I can’t wait for “Booted” I will be so sad once this series has come to an end. Pam Godwin has gotten me hooked on dark cowboys and I can’t thank her enough!
