a ride home from a friend. A misunderstanding leads to an arrest, and now I’m
at the mercy of the one man I can’t stand, and trust me, the feeling is
definitely mutual.
Adam Reingold is six-feet-tall and built like a stallion — the man is the
epitome of male. He also happens to be the town narc and hates my guts. There’s
a story to our past and it’s not a pretty one.
So, now, here I am, chained to him for the summer like a hardened criminal,
doing whatever he tells me to do. Problem is, I can’t help but look at him when
he’s not watching and wonder what our future could be like if things were
different.
There are so many reasons why he’s all wrong for me. Even more reasons why I
need to stay away from him.
It’s a cocktail of trouble. Best served

Jeannine Colette has done it again with this book! I’ve been a big fan of hers since I read, devoured and fell in love with “Wild Abandon”. This book had everything I loved! It had a slow burn, you could feel the character connection which I loved. I honestly felt like I was in the story while I was reading this book! And let’s talk about the sexual tension and angst. I mean Leah and Adam were scorching hot even when they were fighting hard!
What I also loved about this book was the subject matter. This issue is a very big problem around the world and I loved how the author incorporated into the story. The subject matter didn’t overshadow the story and provided a very powerful message.
I have read a few books by Colette and her writing has only gotten better! The story was well paced, thought provoking and will stay with me for a long time! Once again you have knocked it out of the park with this one!

Today we have an exclusive interview with Jeannine Colette herself!
SBC: If you could be any of your book characters who would you be and why?
JC: The wild-child, Matthew McConaughey-lovin Leah from Wrecked! Not only is she fun and feisty, but she’s smart as a whip and has a killer personality. Leah has a sense of self I’m envious of, embracing her insecurities not as a weakness, but as a token to who she is. Plus – she gets to go home with the ultimate alpha male turned romantic-as-hell Adam. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be Leah???
SBC: What are your favorite things to do besides writing?
JC: TRAVEL!!!! Whether it’s a random small town in the U.S. or an exotic city abroad, I love to visit new places! My favorite city (so far) is Boston and Capri, Italy will forever hold a special place in my heart. Another top favorite: Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest!
SBC: Could you tell us a bit about your most recent book and why it is a must-read?
JC: Wrecked is about Leah and Adam who have been enemies since Leah’s boyfriend, and Adam’s best-friend, Brad, died seven years ago from a drug overdose. Leah is the type to brush the past under the rug and ignore the pain, while Adam has made it his life’s mission to avenge his friend’s death.
At the top of the story, Leah is working at a bar called The Bucking Bronco with dreams of buying it and turning it into McConaughey’s (yes, it will be named after that sexy Texan ; ) Leah gets into trouble that could cost her her dreams and Adam, who is a town cop, makes a deal with her: One hundred hours of community service and he’ll get her out of trouble. While spending time together the two are forced to face their past and reexamine their future.
Wrecked hits the trifecta of story telling. It’s angsty, funny and incredible sexy! From Leah’s antics, and McConaughey references, to Adam’s deep-rooted pain, plus a fight scene that will have your heart pounding, this book gives you ALL THE FEELS!!! There’s also an ultra-hot love scene that takes place in the woods that’s will leave you salivating!
SBC: What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?
JC: Wrecked is my only book that takes place in a fictional city. The Abandon Collection (Pure Abandon, Reckless Abandon, Wild Abandon, Sinful Abandon) each features areal-life city that I have been to. All the scents, sounds, tastes and touches of those places are from my personal experience. I have a beta reader from each location read the book before it’s released to confirm authenticity and add some local flair.
I research my books while writing because my storylines are always in flux. Wrecked deals with aspects of the law and heroine use. Google is a great launching pad to obtain information, but I enlisted the help of a police officer, law expert and a nurse to confirm all facts and give the book a realistic tone.
SBC: What is your favorite childhood book?
JC: As a kid, I only cared about the dialogue so I read Archie Comic books and Neil Simon screenplays. That’s probably why I am so picky about the dialogue in my books.
SBC: Who is your favorite author?
JC: Marian Keyes. She has this incredible Irish wit and humor, yet tackles some very serious topics in her books.
READER QUESTIONS:
Who was your inspiration or whom drove you in the direction of writing? What were your other dreams or goals throughout life beside your previous career and currently as an author? ~ Elizabeth G
JC: I was a television producer for CBS and NBC before I became a writer. It was a job I loved and would absolutely go back to. A few things happened – EL James wrote Fifty Shades of Grey, which ignited my love of Contemporary Romance and I started writing Pure Abandon. Then, I became a huge fan of Jamie McGuire, Colleen Hoover and Abbi Glines, and became impassioned by their self-publishing stories that I decided to give it a go myself!
Who was your favorite character to write and why? ~Missy
JC: Crystal in Wild Abandon. I like to write in the first-person, present tense POV of the heroine. It was an amazing experience to explore Napa and uncover Nate’s past and absorb Ed’s wisdom all while she was finding herself. I learned a lot about life and love from her character that I didn’t know I carried in my own heart.
If you could write with any author dead or alive, who would you write with? ~Missy N
JC: Colleen Hoover. Her characters have tremendous depth and her plots are easily lived by the reader. She reminds me of why I love Marian Keyes. There is a mix of humor and angst in her books that absorbs you.
What do you think about names and last names of the characters in a blurb? I think sometimes its good when it’s a series and you want to know what character will be in the next book but sometimes a little mystery for standalones could be good as well. ~Carolina
JC: I put a lot of thought into my character names. The all have a specific meaning that is relevant to the story. Having the name in the blurb gives the reader a sense of the characters. Ryder and Jaxon are going to be badass while Emma and Ali are sweet and unassuming. In the case of Wrecked

JC: Over. And Charmin. I’m quite specific on this matter.
Ok, seriously… What character, that you’ve written, do you think would be your bestie in real life? ~ Grey
JC: Kathryn from Pure Abandon and I have the most in common (aside from the whole falling in-love with the boss thing ; ) I can see us commiserating on work and kids while drinking wine and watching classic movies.
If you could write a book and alleviate the stress by having 1. No deadline or 2. absolutely EVERYONE love your book, which would you choose?
Does the pressure of a deadline help you? ~ Kelli
JC: I write for myself, but I publish for the reader. I read every review because I want to know what’s working and what’s not. Having (almost) everyone love my books would be a dream. That means I’m succeeding at giving you a great read for your money.
Any writer’s remorse involving the endings or outcomes to any of your books? ~Shannon
JC: So far – NO REGRETS!
Any cities you are dying to write about that you haven’t yet? Where does inspiration come from? ~Tiffany
JC: Travel drives me! I am dying to write a book about Hawaii. Maybe I’ll be able to bring the reader’s there soon . . .
