The Bourbon Thief: A southern gothic novel by [Reisz, Tiffany]
From the internationally celebrated author of the Original Sinners series comes a brand-new tale of betrayal, revenge and a family scandal that bore a 150-year-old mystery

When Cooper McQueen wakes up from a night with a beautiful stranger, it’s to discover he’s been robbed. The only item stolen—a million-dollar bottle of bourbon. The thief, a mysterious woman named Paris, claims the bottle is rightfully hers. After all, the label itself says it’s property of the Maddox family who owned and operated Red Thread Bourbon distillery since the last days of the Civil War until the company went out of business for reasons no one knows… No one except Paris.
In the small hours of a Louisville morning, Paris unspools the lurid tale of Tamara Maddox, heiress to the distillery that became an empire. But the family tree is rooted in tainted soil and has borne rotten fruit. Theirs is a legacy of wealth and power, but also of lies, secrets and sins of omission. The Maddoxes have bourbon in their blood—and blood in their bourbon. Why Paris wants the bottle of Red Thread remains a secret until the truth of her identity is at last revealed, and the century-old vengeance Tamara vowed against her family can finally be completed.
Tamara Maddox is apart of one of the richest families in the south.

Levi Shelby works in the stables and isn't good enough for her due to his social status and skin color.

Tamara and Levi what can I say about this couple? They weren't a traditional couple due to various reasons. They have all kinds of odds stacked against them and at one point I wasn't sure if it was even worth it anymore. As the story progresses a “marriage for revenge” turns into something more. I loved how the couple interacted with each other and pushes each other buttons. They fought hard but loved even harder. Throughout the story a HUGE bomb gets dropped and I honestly didn't see that coming the whole time!! I wasn't sure how their relationship would survive after this bombshell. That was my only issue with the book. I would have liked more info on the couple after that bomb was dropped. It fell just a little flat for me towards the end.

I honestly had no idea what to expect when I first started this book. I've never read anything by this author and she blew me away with her writing and storytelling. This book has so many twist and turns. This family has so many secrets, lies and betrayals. So many times during this book I sat here stunned and not being able to process what I just read. This book definitely took me by surprise and I will be sure to check out other books by this author.
